CONTRACTING

BENEFITS OF AN 8(a) ANC DIRECT AWARD

Glacier Federal, LLC  is an SBA-certified 8(a) Alaska Native Corporation (ANC) offering an effective and efficient contracting means to procure high-quality services. Glacier Federal focuses its efforts on integrating leading-edge technologies with proven quality management processes. Additionally, GSS holds a substantial pre-approved line of credit and is supported by a DCAA-accredited accounting firm, with extensive experience supporting Government contracts.

Glacier Federal is a proven small business, fully qualified to transition the performance of large contract requirements cost-effectively and professionally. As an 8(a) ANC, Glacier Federal stands ready and able to support a set-aside competition or a directed sole source award of up to $100M.

The recently passed 2020 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) adjusted the limit for sole-source awards from the previous $22M to $100M for Department of Defense (DoD) contracts. This ensures that DoD contracting officers can quickly and efficiently procure products and services when the need arises.

Should it prove beneficial, Glacier Federal would be happy to discuss the process for a streamlined, directed sole source award. The standard six-step process for executing a sole source award to an ANC is described to the right.

 8(a) ANC DIRECT AWARD BENEFITS

  • Sole source ANC awards cannot be protested, bypassing the costly approval process; 13 CFR 124.517(a)
  • Ability to negotiate with contractor prior to award, to include cost and defining the scope of the work
  • $100M limit for Department of Defense contracts, and approval authority above that amount rests with the head of the procuring activity; 2020 NDAA Section 823

SPEED OF CONTRACT AWARD

  • An award can be made in 1-2 weeks
  • No need to develop exhaustive and rigorous specifications for reevaluation of bidders
